Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Data Center Operator for a long-term contract. The role focuses on monitoring and managing the data center environment and infrastructure, not IT servers or networks.

The candidate should be comfortable with data center power, cooling, and fire suppression, with some Windows/Linux admin experience to support device setup, monitoring software, and patching. Experience with job automation tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of data center or facilities operations experience.
• Experience with power and cooling systems, fire suppression, rack-and-stack, cabling, and hardware inventory.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
• Some Windows and Linux administration experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor automated batch jobs through Stonebranch.
• Rack and unrack servers and perform cabling.
• Manage hardware inventory.
• Process payroll and print payroll checks.
• Monitor ServiceNow tickets and dashboards.
• Coordinate with vendors on maintenance and repairs.
• Support physical security and access control in the data center.
• Utilize monitoring tools and respond to incidents.

Job description

Our client is hiring for a Data Center Operator. This is a long-term/multi-year contract position. This person monitors and manages the data center environment and infrastructure not the IT servers and network. This person needs to be comfortable with data center power, fire suppression systems, and cooling concepts, and devices. Some windows and Linux administration experience is desired to aid the candidate in setting up devices in the monitoring software, upgrading and patching monitoring applications etc. Additionally, having any job automation software experience will be a plus.

Job Duties:

• Monitor automated batch jobs through Stonebranch
• Rack/unrack servers and perform cabling work
• Manage hardware inventory
• Process payroll and print payroll checks
• Monitor ServiceNow tickets and operational dashboards
• Coordinate with vendors on maintenance and repairs
• Support physical security and access control within the data center
• Must-Have Soft Skills

Requirements:

• Detailed oriented (there's no room for mistakes)
• 2-3 years of experience in a data center, command center, or in a facilities operation's role
• Experience with: Power and cooling systems, fire suppression systems, rack & stack activities, cabling and hardware inventory

Plusses:

• Basic Windows and/or Linux administration experience
• Experience with data center infrastructure monitoring (DCIM) tools
• Experience with job scheduling/automation tools (Stonebranch, Control-M, Autosys, etc.) is a major plus
