Position Summary: The qualified candidate will demonstrate extensive working knowledge of “live” broadcast and data center environments. Tasks will include maintaining the integrity of active cabling systems as well as the upkeep of the corresponding systems documentation. The candidate will lead and support installations from project start thru to client hand-off. The individual must be proficient in the installation and termination of copper (coax/network/multi-conductor) and fiber-optic cable products, be mechanically inclined and excel in working in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Works on projects as assigned by Senior Supervisor
Supports Senior Supervisor and performs administrative duties when needed
Provides real time updates on project progress (group and conference call setting)
Lead in creating a positive and collaborative work environment
Lead by example and upholds company culture and policies
Lead peers throughout project builds – start to finish
Identify and improve on workflow procedures when appropriate
Maintains an organized and efficient shop environment including materials inventory and tools
Ensure the proper use of safety equipment and safety protocols are being followed
Designs rack cable layouts and leads in determining best install practices to follow on assigned projects
Thorough understanding of reading VidCad drawings (signal flow diagrams), rack elevations and cable wire lists
Train and mentor peers in relation to integration standards, practices and team SOPs
Perform rack set-up / mechanics associated with project builds (or other project related mechanics within reason)
Responsible to organize and stage all materials from stock that will be required for an assigned project
Maintain inventory management software
Install broadcast related equipment
Cable cutting, terminating, labeling, dressing and cable runs (coax, multi-conductor, network and fiber optic cables)
Extensive knowledge in use of department test gear (Fluke DSX5000, Paladin 1570, Cable IQ, etc.)
Test completed systems fully for both engineering specifications and operational functionality
Other duties as assigned
Basic Requirements:
Strong listening and organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
A team player who works well with others
Extensive problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Thorough working knowledge of Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Drawings
Strong mathematical knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and geometry)
Understanding how to read / interpret installation documentation (drawings / wire lists)
Ability to adapt to change and work across multiple projects at once
Delegate multiple tasks and lead in sometimes stressful environment
Complete operational knowledge of hand and power tools, cable strippers, crimpers etc.
Qualifications:
3-9+ years’ experience related to broadcast / data center / telecommunication installations
High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational education preferred
Other industry associated certificates a plus (i.e. , FOI, FOA – CFOT / CPCT, low voltage, BICSI, SCTE etc.) but not required
Working knowledge of VidCAD a plus but not required
CPR / AED Certified a plus but not required
Working Conditions:
Typically working indoors in a climate controlled environment; outdoor work dependent on work requests made by clients
Work environment in equipment rooms have varying noise level ranges as dictated by equipment you are working with or near
Working conditions can include, working in an office environment, high precarious places (on ladders and on top of a grid system), beneath computer sub floors in tight confined spaces, etc.
Employee will be routinely required to: Sit, Walk, Climb, Stand, Reach, Use Hands, Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, Crawl, Talk, Hear, See (Near / Far)
May be required to lift up to 50lbs
Working in areas of varying temperatures (hot/cold) as needed
Position may require you to work overnight for short periods of time as dictated by projects
Typical work week is 40 hours (may be required to work overtime as the operational nature of the business requires
