Responsibilities

  • Install and deploy servers, network devices, storage equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Install, route, terminate, and dress copper and fiber cabling with proper labeling.
  • Install PDUs and verify power connectivity.
  • Perform provisioning, hardware installation, and OOB management connections.
  • Conduct basic testing and validation, including continuity and fiber verification.
  • Handle MACD changes and FRU replacements per procedures.
  • Maintain installation records, test results, and as-built docs.
  • Elevate design or safety concerns to senior staff.

Job description

We are looking for a Data Center Technician to support rack-and-stack activities, structured cabling, equipment installation, testing, provisioning, and operational support. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a hands-on, physically active environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and quality.

Travel: Up to 100% may be required.

What You'll Do
  • Install and deploy servers, network devices, storage equipment, and related infrastructure based on engineering designs and installation documentation.
  • Install, route, terminate, and dress copper and fiber cabling, ensuring proper labeling and cable management.
  • Install rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs), connect equipment to assigned power sources, and verify power and management connectivity.
  • Perform equipment provisioning, hardware component installation, and out-of-band (OOB) management connections.
  • Perform basic testing and validation, including continuity testing, fiber verification, and standard equipment turn-up procedures.
  • Perform Moves, Adds, Changes, and Disconnects (MACD) and standard Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) replacements following approved procedures.
  • Maintain accurate installation records, test results, inventory updates, and as-built documentation.
  • Identify and elevate design concerns, operational issues, and safety risks to senior technicians or site leadership.
What You'll Bring
  • High school diploma, technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, telecommunications, field services, or IT infrastructure support.
  • Working knowledge of data center hardware, racks, servers, networking equipment, power distribution systems, and structured cabling.
  • Understanding of copper and fiber cabling practices, basic optical networking concepts, and installation standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, installation documentation, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
  • Experience with rack-and-stack, cabling, testing, and equipment installation with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work effectively with technicians, project teams, vendors, and customers while independently managing assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • Comfortable working in a physically active environment, including lifting, standing, working at heights, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to work on ladders or elevated work platforms and comply with applicable safety requirements and certifications.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid state ID or driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%, as required.
