Type: Contract
We are seeking highly motivated and detail‑oriented Data Center Technicians to support large‑scale, high‑density compute deployments. This role is heavily focused on rack/stack/patch work, extremely high cable‑count installs, structured cabling, and ongoing white space maintenance in a fast‑paced hyperscale environment.
Ideal candidates have experience working with large server deployments and high‑volume cabling in mission‑critical data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Rack/Stack/Patch
- Unbox, inspect, and install servers, network devices, and storage equipment per elevation diagrams.
- Secure devices with appropriate mounting hardware, ensuring correct grounding, airflow, and space planning.
- Support turn‑up activities, including basic power‑on checks and connectivity verification.
High‑Density Cabling Installation
- Install, route, and dress large quantities of high‑speed fiber and copper cabling across racks, MOR (Middle of Row), PRD racks, and IDFs.
- Work with dense cable bundles, including:
- AOCs/DACs
- Label and map all cables per site standards.
- Use testing equipment such as OTDRs and Fluke testers to validate connectivity.
- Maintain clean, organized pathways that support airflow and containment requirements.
- Perform remediation or rework to meet strict quality and density standards.
Data Center Operations & Safety
- Maintain white space cleanliness, organization, and readiness across all assigned rows.
- Follow all Microsoft and OSHA safety protocols (PPE, ladder safety, thermal zones, confined spaces).
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety walkthroughs, and quality audits.
- Work closely with Brooksource PMs, Area Leads, and Microsoft DCPMs to deliver accurate and timely deployments.
- Provide daily updates on progress, blockers, cable completion percentages, and rack installation status.
- Document cabling routes, labeling schemes, and installed hardware.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years in a data center or other mission‑critical technical environment.
- Experience with rack/stack/patch work and high‑volume structured cabling.
- Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI standards, and large‑scale deployment workflows.
- Experience using cable testers and following Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation.
Skills & Requirements
- Basic understanding of networking (switching, routing, IP basics).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high‑density cable environments.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and maneuver equipment during installations.
- Comfortable working in overhead pathways, ladders, and thermally variable environments.
- Flexibility to support day/night/weekend shifts as deployment cycles require.
