Job summary

Excis is hiring a Datacenter Network Engineer L2/L3 in Miami to install, maintain, and optimize data center infrastructure for a major cruise line client. The ideal candidate has a BS in a technical field and 3+ years in data center operations, with CCNA preferred and strong cabling and asset management skills.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in Data Center Engineering and Operations.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • Structured cabling (copper and fiber) experience.
  • Low-voltage infrastructure and asset management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support data center hardware and infrastructure to ensure high availability.
  • Install and document structured cabling (copper and fiber), including labeling and testing.
  • Perform cabling, patching, rack elevations, and cable management; validate connectivity.
  • Coordinate fiber installation with internal teams and vendors.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Assist in planning data center projects, hardware refreshes, migrations, and expansions.
  • MACs for servers, storage, network equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Maintain rack layouts, cable maps, and asset inventory.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support objectives.
  • Safely perform physical work in data center environments.

Location / Travel:

Based in Miami, FL with up to 25% domestic/international travel (Europe)

We are seeking a skilled Datacenter Network Engineer L2 / L3 to join our team for a full-time opportunity with a major cruise line client. This role is based in Miami and requires domestic/international travel to support data center operations, hardware deployments, and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center hardware, structured cabling, and supporting systems to ensure high availability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support data center hardware, infrastructure, and supporting systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, label, and document structured cabling infrastructure, including copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling.
  • Perform network cabling, patching, cross-connects, cable routing, rack elevations, cable management, and connectivity validation for network, compute, and storage environments.
  • Coordinate fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and termination activities with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Understand fiber optic standards, installation, testing, documentation, and the overall deployment process to effectively plan, coordinate, and validate implementation.
  • Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage infrastructure, including network connectivity, environmental monitoring systems, access control, surveillance, and other supporting data center technologies.
  • Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, power utilization, and cooling performance, ensuring compliance with operational standards and service level objectives.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of data center projects, including equipment deployments, hardware refreshes, cabling installations, migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and facility expansions.
  • Perform hardware installation, decommissioning, moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for servers, storage, network equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of rack layouts, cable maps, fiber pathways, patch panels, network connectivity, asset inventory, and infrastructure changes.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot hardware, physical connectivity, structured cabling, and basic operating system or software issues.
  • Apply industry best practices for rack organization, cable management, airflow optimization, and physical infrastructure reliability.
  • Collaborate effectively with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Security, Facilities, vendors, and other cross-functional teams to support operational and project objectives.
  • Safely perform physical work in a data center environment, including lifting equipment, installing overhead or underfloor cabling, and working in hot and cold aisle environments.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: B.S. in Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in Data Center Engineering and Operations, managing IT infrastructure, structured cabling (copper and fiber optic), low-voltage infrastructure, rack and cable management, hardware installation and lifecycle management, physical infrastructure documentation, and asset management.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
  • CCNA (Certified Engineers would be best fit but not 100% required).
  • Structured cabling standards (copper and fiber optic) and network cabling.
  • Fiber optic installation, testing, and vendor coordination.
  • Low-voltage infrastructure and physical data center systems.
  • Rack elevations, cable management, and airflow optimization.
  • Hardware installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Physical infrastructure documentation and asset management.
  • Basic network protocols and cabling standards.
Additional Requirements:
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport (international travel required).
  • Travel: Must be able and willing to travel to U.S. or global locations up to 25% (e.g., Europe).
  • Background: Must pass Criminal and Background Checks.
  • Physical: Safely perform physical work in a data center environment, including lifting equipment, installing overhead or underfloor cabling, and working in hot and cold aisle environments.
