Job summary

AMD Design is seeking a Product Development Engineer, Product Operations, to join our Datacenter Platform Engineering Group in Secaucus, NJ. You will drive the development and manufacturing launch of cutting-edge datacenter hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet design standards, quality targets, and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience guiding products from concept through development and production.
  • Knowledge of physical design (PD) methodologies for hardware or systems.
  • Familiarity with server architectures or rack-level hardware systems and their components.
  • Ability to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and optimize designs for efficient manufacturing.
  • Experience managing Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and implementing design updates in a production environment.
  • Understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and best practices.
  • Strong documentation skills, including experience creating and maintaining comprehensive engineering documentation and BOM.
  • Proven ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Hands-on experience working in a manufacturing or factory environment, especially in a fast-paced, dynamic NPI setting, with a history of successfully launching new hardware products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to lead meetings, coordinate across multiple teams, and drive projects to completion in a timely manner.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience in product development engineering or a closely related hardware engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration with Engineering Design, Materials, Rack/Server Systems PM, and other teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturability reviews to ensure efficient, high-quality production.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and readiness timelines to support new product introductions.
  • Drive NPI processes by coordinating cross-functional problem-solving meetings and resolving design or production issues.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance during design decisions.
  • Oversee first article builds and FAI to validate design and manufacturing readiness.
  • Coordinate ECOs and engineering rework during transition to volume production.
  • Validate assembly instructions and ensure manufacturing clarity and accuracy.
  • Ensure final products meet customer specs and quality standards and are delivered on schedule.
