About the Role
xAI is seeking engineering technicians to operate and maintain the facility systems serving supercomputing datacenter builds. This is a hands-on role with responsibilities including maintenance, operations, and repair of facilities as they pertain to all MEP Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for MEP infrastructure site safety and environmental compliance, ensuring the sites align with all local and regional health and safety requirements.
- Provide operational expertise for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems at the datacenter facility. Systems and equipment include pumps, piping, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, wiring, lighting, generators, motors, water supply, UPS, and switchgear.
- Routinely inspect all areas to ensure performance measures are maintained and proactively report facility issues.
- Write and execute MOPs, SOPs, EOPs.
- Available for occasional on-site emergency calls during nights and weekends.
- Perform daily inspections of critical systems.
- Identify and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and supervise scheduled system shutdowns.
- Develop and implement energy monitoring metrics.
- Support commissioning efforts by witnessing equipment startup, assisting with functional testing, and monitoring construction progress.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (relevant experience acceptable in lieu of degree).
- 3+ years of hands-on operations or facilities work experience; data center experience preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and systems.
- Experience with critical systems documentation including plans, procedures, and operations manuals.
- Experience with Building and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems and Operations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and/or Building Management Systems.
- Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Proficient with hand tools and power tools.
- Available to work different shifts providing 24x7 coverage.

- Comfort working at heights up to 100 feet with safety gear.
- Ability to work in environments with fumes, odors, and noise.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Valid driver’s license.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $74,880 - $104,000. Actual salary depends on experience, skills, and education.
