Job summary

OpenTalent is seeking a senior Databricks enterprise architect to lead the design and governance of our Lakehouse platform in Atlanta, GA. You will drive the target-state architecture across ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, orchestration, and data sharing while ensuring strict security, lineage, and data quality standards.

You will collaborate with security, risk, and data-governance teams to embed enterprise controls, migrate legacy workloads, and mentor engineers and architects.

Responsibilities

• Lead Databricks Lakehouse architecture using Medallion pattern (Bronze-Silver-Gold).
• Define target-state Databricks architecture across ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration, analytics, streaming, data sharing, and consumption.
• Design Delta Lake architectures: layout, performance, schema evolution, lifecycle, and workload standards.
• Own data-governance on Databricks, focusing on Unity Catalog for cataloging, access, discovery, lineage, ownership, and sharing.
• Define data domains, catalogs, schemas, ownership, classification, metadata, and stewardship patterns with governance teams.
• Establish RBAC/ABAC security, IAM integration, least-privilege, row/column controls, masking, encryption, secure sharing, and auditability.
• Architect data-quality controls and observability: validation, metrics, lineage, SLA/SLO reporting.
• Design high-performance batch and streaming pipelines; reusable frameworks, standards, and orchestration.
• Provide architecture for governed data exposure via APIs, Delta Sharing, semantic layers, BI/ML consumers.
• Translate requirements into conceptual/logical/physical models; define lakehouse and enterprise structures.
• Serve as architecture lead for new projects: discovery, feasibility, reviews, alignment.
• Partner with security/compliance teams to embed controls into the platform and data-product lifecycle.
• Drive migration of legacy platforms to Databricks: assessment, migration, tuning, cutover.
• Support production issue analysis to resolve data quality, security, and performance issues.
• Mentor engineers and architects; provide oversight and collaborate with SI vendors.
