Job summary

IBSS Corp. is seeking a Database Engineer in Washington, DC to design, implement, and secure Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, and hybrid database environments.

You will collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve performance, security, and reliability for Federal systems. Active Secret clearance is required, with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 4+ years in database engineering.

• Expertise with Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure CLI.
• Experience with Azure PaaS/IaaS, performance tuning, backup, security, and DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, and Cosmos DB.
• Optimize database performance, indexing, and storage.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Implement security, auditing, and compliance controls.
• Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps automation.
• Troubleshoot database issues and mentor junior staff.

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

Salary: $130K-$145K / Based on Years of Experience

Program Overview

Supports the NTIA ISCOM program by engineering secure Azure and hybrid database solutions supporting mission-critical Federal systems.

Position Overview

Designs, implements, secures, optimizes, and supports Azure SQL, Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, and hybrid database environments while collaborating with DevOps and infrastructure teams.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and manage Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, and Cosmos DB.
• Optimize database performance, indexing, and storage.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Implement security, auditing, and compliance controls.
• Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years database engineering experience.
• Expertise with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure CLI.
• Experience with Azure PaaS/IaaS, performance tuning, backup, security, and DevOps.
• U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure Database Administrator certification.
• Department of Commerce or NTIA experience.
• Hybrid or multi-cloud database experience.
