We deliver essential technology services to our customers in support of their missions to sustain national security and economic interests. SecuriGence is seeking a mission-focused Database Architect to join our team in support of the FCC Enterprise Engineering and Architecture Services (EE&AS) Program, leading the design and implementation of modern data lake and data fabric architectures supporting secure, scalable, and compliant data platforms across AWS and Azure environments. This role supports public sector initiatives, including cloud modernization, data integration, and mission-critical analytics for federal and government clients.
Responsibilities
Data Management & Architecture
Develop data management strategies ensuring high availability
Lead large-scale data management, warehousing, or analytics projects
Design and implement federated data architectures, including data lakes, lakehouses, and data fabrics, to support multi-source integration and cross-agency data sharing
Architect secure and resilient data pipelines using AWS (S3, Lake Formation, Glue) and Azure (Data Lake Storage Gen2, Synapse, Purview)
Technical Leadership
Demonstrate industry leadership in database design and development, data warehousing, data governance, or data sciences
Provide technical guidance and leadership to the development team
Optimize database performance through appropriate design and configuration
Develop scalable ingestion, transformation, and analytics solutions using cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Data Factory, Databricks)
Integrate structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources into centralized repositories for reporting, ML/AI, and decision support
Governance, Security & Compliance
Ensure data security and privacy by following industry best practices
Apply federal standards such as NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and FISMA to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability
Establish and enforce metadata management, data lineage, and audit traceability using tools like AWS Glue Data Catalog and Azure Purview
Support Privacy Act, CUI, and PII data handling across the data lifecycle
Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design data models that meet those requirements
Develop and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories
Collaborate with federal data stewards, program managers, and system integrators to develop and align data architecture to agency mission needs
Contribute to technical documentation, data architecture blueprints, and roadmap planning artifacts in support of modernization initiatives

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field
Education requirement may be substituted with 4+ years of relevant experience
7+ years of experience in database and data architecture, with at least 1 year designing and delivering solutions in AWS and/or Azure
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Ability to obtain a Public Trust (PT); Current PT preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of databases, primarily Oracle and other relational and non-relational databases such as Netezza, Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, and RDF
Expertise in data lake and data fabric concepts, metadata cataloging, and federated query systems
Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep)
Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD integration for data deployments
Experience leading large-scale data management, warehousing, or analytics projects
Demonstrated industry leadership in database design and development, data warehousing, or data sciences
Solid understanding of data mining, acquisitions, database architecture, administration, data migration, replication, archive recovery, design, modeling, analysis, and metadata repository creation
Strong communication and data presentation skills
