Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a heavily quantitative field. Industry certifications are highly desirable.
• 3–5+ years of production-scale database experience in high-volume environments.
• Deep expertise with at least one major RDBMS and exposure to NoSQL.
• Strong SQL and scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and cloud DB familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Optimize database performance and queries; tune indexing and configurations for sub-millisecond execution where possible.
• Design and test backup, failover, and disaster recovery to ensure data availability and zero data loss.
• Plan capacity and scaling, including partitioning, sharding, and cloud migrations as data grows.
• Enforce data security, encryption, and access control; perform regular security audits.
• Collaborate with engineers on schema changes and data migrations to preserve integrity.

We are seeking a meticulous, highly technical Database Administrator (DBA) to serve as the ultimate guardian of our data tier. In this role, you will be entirely responsible for the design, implementation, performance, and security of our relational and non-relational database environments. You will ensure maximum uptime, engineer robust backup and recovery strategies, and optimize complex queries to support our rapidly scaling application ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Database Optimization & Tuning: Proactively monitor, diagnose, and resolve database performance bottlenecks. Optimize complex SQL queries, tune indexing strategies, and adjust configuration parameters to ensure sub-millisecond execution times.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and test rigorous backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies (including replication and clustering) to guarantee 99.99% data availability and zero data loss.
• Capacity Planning & Scaling: Monitor database growth patterns, forecast future storage and compute requirements, and execute database partitioning, sharding, or cloud-migration strategies as data scales.
• Security & Access Control: Establish and enforce strict database security protocols, including data encryption at rest and in transit, managing user permissions/roles, and performing regular security compliance audits.
• Schema Management & Developer Support: Collaborate closely with backend engineers and data architects to review, optimize, and deploy database schema changes, ensuring data integrity and migration safety.

Qualifications

• Education & Domain Literacy: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a heavily quantitative field. Industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database, Oracle Certified Professional, or Microsoft Azure Database Administrator) are highly desirable.
• Professional Experience: 3 to 5+ years of proven hands-on experience managing production-scale databases in a high-volume, 24/7 commercial environment.
• Database Platform Mastery: Deep technical expertise in managing and administering at least one major relational database management system (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle. Practical exposure to NoSQL environments (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) is a massive plus.
• Expert-Level SQL & Scripting: Exceptional command of SQL and procedural extensions (PL/pgSQL, T-SQL, or PL/SQL), paired with scripting capabilities (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine maintenance and monitoring tasks.
• Cloud Infrastructure Familiarity: Hands-on experience administering cloud-managed database services (such as AWS RDS, Aurora, or Azure SQL) and understanding cloud network topologies.
• Methodical Problem-Solving: A disciplined, high-stakes mindset with the ability to remain calm and analytical during critical database outages or data recovery operations.
