Job summary

Kforce has a client in Tallahassee, FL seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join a highly collaborative technology team responsible for supporting enterprise data platforms and ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of mission-critical database environments.

This role will focus on database architecture, administration, optimization, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of database administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Expert-level SQL Server 2012+ and Oracle DB administration experience.
• Experience with backup/recovery, performance tuning, security, and support.

Summary: This individual will play a key role in database architecture, administration, optimization, and support across multiple database technologies while partnering with technical and business stakeholders to deliver long-term data solutions. The successful candidate will assist in the design, development, enhancement, and optimization of database schemas, data structures, and enterprise data environments. This role requires a strong understanding of database administration best practices, relational database design, performance tuning, security standards, and data architecture principles. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently while also contributing as part of a broader infrastructure and application development team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field; Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• 5+ years of combined database administration experience supporting enterprise database environments
• Expert-level experience administering and supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and newer versions
• Experience administering Oracle Database 10g and newer versions
• Experience with database installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, and ongoing operational support
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining relational database structures
• Knowledge of relational database management principles, practices, and technologies
• Understanding of database design, normalization, indexing strategies, and performance optimization
• Experience managing enterprise-scale production database environments
• Knowledge of ESRI SDE Geodatabases and GIS data management concepts
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain secure and efficient relational databases
• Ability to prepare complex database specifications and technical documentation
• Experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into database solutions
• Strong understanding of database security, access controls, backup strategies, and recovery processes
• Ability to independently analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex database issues
• Skilled at evaluating alternative solutions and recommending effective remediation strategies
• Ability to accurately estimate effort, timelines, and resource requirements for database initiatives
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

• Experience with Azure SQL Database
• Experience with AWS database technologies and SQL-related services
• Experience administering ArcGIS Server environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
