Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/IS/Engineering) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data ingestion, extraction, integration and transformation.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and scalable data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines ingesting diverse sources.
  • Build cloud-based data lakes and platforms emphasizing scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop data engineering and analytics solutions using modern cloud technologies.
  • Design, develop, and support enterprise data warehouses and dimensional data models.

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Phoenix, AZ who is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team. The Data Engineer is a hands-on technical role focused on designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise data solutions. This individual will play a key role in advancing modern data engineering, analytics, and cloud-based data platform initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that ingest and process data from various structured and unstructured sources
  • Build and optimize cloud-based data lakes and data platforms with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Develop data engineering and analytics solutions using modern cloud technologies and data processing frameworks
  • Design, develop, and support enterprise data warehouse solutions and dimensional data models
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Participate in data architecture discussions, system design, and technical planning activities
  • Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle using Agile methodologies
  • Design and implement Medallion Architecture frameworks (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to support enterprise data initiatives
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models and maintain associated documentation
  • Partner with technical and business teams to review data models, ensure data quality, and support governance initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data ingestion, extraction, integration, and transformation
  • Experience working with cloud-based data and analytics platforms
  • Strong experience building and optimizing scalable data pipelines
  • Experience working with modern data warehouse and data lake architectures
  • Proficiency with SQL and Python
Preferred
  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise data solutions
  • 7+ years of experience with integration architectures, including APIs, microservices, ETL/ELT frameworks, or related technologies
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-based data engineering services
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, content management systems, search technologies, and large-scale data platforms
  • Experience with JSON, XML, and semi-structured data processing
  • Experience using modern source control and version management practices (Git/GitHub)
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization
  • Experience supporting business intelligence and reporting solutions
  • Exposure to machine learning and artificial intelligence initiatives
  • Experience with modern data modeling and data warehouse design tools
  • Knowledge of Snowflake, DBT, and cloud-native analytics platforms preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

  • Salaried personnel receive paid time off.
  • Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
  • Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
