Job summary

i-Link Solutions is seeking a senior Database Administrator for a State of NY(OPWDD) project. This on-site role in New York involves managing Oracle databases on AIX, performing tuning, backups, and security enhancements for a 30-month engagement.

You will collaborate with application teams, implement RMAN, RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and use OEM for monitoring while handling incidents and providing guidance to junior staff.

Qualifications

• 1–84 months of Oracle DBA experience in AIX/Unix with security and auditing.
• 2–60 months installing, tuning databases for OBIEE and BI apps.
• 3–84 months with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard and related features.
• 4–84 months RMAN backup/recovery with Commvault.
• 5–84 months OEM to monitor and troubleshoot databases.
• 6–24 months Oracle DB on AIX supporting SAP/BI apps.
• 7–Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist DB team with installation, configuration, backup validation and tuning.
• Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle DBs on AIX with backup/recovery.
• Plan storage and capacity; collaborate with dev/architecture teams.
• Provide support for internal users and external data exchanges.
• Perform off-hours work for maintenance and incidents via ITSM.
• Recommend technical architectures and security enhancements.
• Train and mentor other DB staff; assist application development.

Description

Duties will include-

Working On Site The Consultant Will Be Expect To

• Assist the Database team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to database installation, configuration and hardening, backup validation, performance tuning and general database monitoring, as well as recommend best practices and procedures;
• Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle databases on AIX, including backup and recovery;
• Allocating storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system;
• Work with teams of application programmers, system architects to create solutions to meet business goals;
• Perform off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed for emergency or maintenance tasks;
• Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners;
• Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs, and modifying resource allocations as needed;
• Provides recommendations on technical architecture;
• Provides recommendations on Oracle Advance Security including TDE, Oracle Wallet and remote authentication;
• Provides hands-on training and mentoring for other database administrative staff.
• Provide support to Application Development staff. Perform root cause analysis and recommend remediation for issues that arise.
• Handle Requests and Incidents submitted through ITSM tickets.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 1 84 months of experience as an Oracle DBA in AIX/Unix environment. This experience includes: database implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidations, database compliance, security, and auditing including Oracle Advanced Security, remote authentication, and Oracle wallet configuration.
• 2 60 months of experience installing/maintaining/tuning databases that support OBIEE and Oracle Business Intelligence Application software.
• 3 84 months of experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Database Security.
• 4 84 months of experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN). This experience includes: Backup and Repository Configuration & Maintenance as well as Implementation of RMAN Backup & Recovery using Commvault.
• 5 84 months of experience installing, upgrading, patching and using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to monitor and analyze database issues and find solutions to correct the problems.
• 6 24 months of experience maintaining Oracle databases on AIX that support SAP Business Object Info View, and applications that use Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports.
• 7 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
