Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Computer Engineering intern to help modernize data analysis and visualization. You will join a multidisciplinary team developing innovative methods to analyze performance of deployed and future defense systems.

You will prototype approaches to manage and present data using SQL Server, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and AI components, while collaborating with software engineers in an Agile environment with GitLab and Jira.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in multiple programming languages including C++, C#, Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, etc.
• A passion for programming and analysis and interest in databases and visualization techniques.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Eligibility for Interim Secret and eventual Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and maintain our legacy software applications with an eye towards modernization.
• Prototype approaches to manage and present data using database and engineering tools such as SQL Server, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and integrating AI.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop sensor and data acquisition systems for data collection during testing.
• Collaborate in an Agile team environment using GitLab, Jira, etc.
• Prepare technical reports and brief presentations to internal staff and sponsors.
