NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a Data Technician in the Health Information Management (HIM) department to enter patient medical records and insurance correspondence into the clinical database. The role supports Revenue Cycle/Finance with reporting, research, and administrative functions.

You will follow up on clinical appeals by phone or web and search archives for determination letters from payers to resolve denials promptly. On-site presence is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of medical record operating procedures and systems experience (HIM).
• Experience with medical/psychiatric terminology and documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of DSM IV Coding System (HIM) preferred.
• Light typing and ability to operate PC for data entry/retrieval.
• Strong accuracy, detail orientation, and organizational skills.

Also, follow-up on clinical appeals by phone and/or web, as well as searching archive database for determination letters from Payers in order to resolve denials as soon as possible. Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or GED
• If in Health Information Management, minimum of 1 year experience in medical record operating procedures and systems
• If in Patient Case Management, minimum of 1 year of experience in medical record correspondence, denial management or insurance claims
• Knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology and documentation requirement
• If in HIM, knowledge of DSM IV Coding System
• Light typing and ability to operate PC for data entry/retrieval
• Orientation to accuracy and detail, strong organizational and communication skills essential
• Must be able to work with a variety of professional staff

Salary Range: $26.50-$32.50/Hourly
