Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH) is seeking personnel to support the Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) by improving data access for decision making. The role will assist epidemiologists and collaborate with IT in deploying RedCap projects and roll out a more robust Electronic Disease Surveillance System (EDSS).

Qualifications

• Degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematics, data science, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of programming languages is preferred.
• A bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist epidemiologists and collaborate with IT staff in developing and deploying RedCap projects as needs arise.
• Develop, modify, maintain, and run R and Python scripts to prepare data for analysis and visualization and respond to data requests.
• Crosstrains staff to ensure sustainability of these functions.
• Participate in data management and validation efforts for a new Electronic Disease Surveillance System (EDSS).
• Develop and support RedCap projects for routine or ad hoc needs.
• Perform other related duties and special projects, including travel if requested, and respond during emergencies.
