Job summary

The Council of State Governments (CSG) seeks a Data Systems Specialist to provide first-tier operational support for CompactConnect, an AWS-based data system used to administer occupational licensure compacts. The role serves as a bridge between technical operations and stakeholder needs in a hybrid Lexington, KY setting.

You will monitor system health, assist with onboarding, and collaborate with policy stakeholders to improve capabilities, while engaging in regional and national events.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AWS services, particularly CloudWatch, Cognito, and console operations.
• Understanding of databases, monitoring tools, and basic NoSQL concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Preferred: Git/GitHub configuration management; security monitoring and incident response; CLI tools; multi-state regulatory familiarity; healthcare/regulatory systems; occupational licensing processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor application performance, system health, and database status.
• Assist clients with system configuration, onboarding, and user accounts.
• Support bulk data imports and troubleshoot processing issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and knowledge base; manage support requests.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and consultants on products.
• Plan and execute policy workshops, webinars, and state visits.
• Coordinate collaborative projects with national organizations and policy experts.
• Prepare concise responses to information requests from branches.
• Develop and manage relationships with state officials and policymakers.
• Travel up to 10 nights per year as needed.
