Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Field Operations/Deputy Technical Services in Columbus seeks a Data Systems Coordinator Supervisor to lead a team of coordinators and oversee critical computer networks.

Under supervision, the role directs data system projects, coordinates with multiple vendors, and ensures secure IT operations while supporting statewide driver and vehicle services.

Qualifications

• 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in data processing/computer science (i.e., excludes data entry & keypunch)
• 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in computer hardware/software systems
• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in microcomputer, minicomputer &/or mainframe application programs
• 1 course or 3 mos. trg. in operation of computer terminal & peripheral equipment (e.g., printers, modems, bursters, disk & tape drives)

Responsibilities

• Supervise unit of lower-level coordinators in coordinating office automation projects
• Provide management & supervisory guidance for the statewide Deputy Registrar & Business Application Service System (BASS) &/or Driver Examiner (DX) computer networks
• Place, track, & clear service calls to multiple vendors & reporting data network concerns to LEADS controlling board
• Collaborate with LEADS network control center to determine network diagnostics; respond to concerns associated with Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Deputy Registrar Data Network

What You'll Do As a Data Systems Coordinator Supervisor

• Under direct supervision of the Assistant Chief of Central Operations, supervise unit of lower-level coordinators in coordinating office automation projects:
• Oversee the Deputy Technical Services unit by providing management & supervisory guidance for the statewide Deputy Registrar & Business Application Service System (BASS) &/or Driver Examiner (DX) computer networks; Schedule data & network additions, deletions, & improvements with multiple vendors; Provide complex technical & procedural support;
• Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews);
• Place, track, & clear service calls to multiple vendors & reporting data network concerns to Law Enforcement Administrative Data System (LEADS) controlling board;
• Collaborate with LEADS network control center to determine network diagnostics; Respond to concerns associated with Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Deputy Registrar Data Network.
