Job summary

FM Talent Source's client, the Federal Reserve Board, seeks an Acquisitions Librarian to join the Data & Subscriptions Team in Washington, DC. The role supports acquiring data and subscription licenses to fuel economic research and involves liaising with researchers and vendors.

You will evaluate researchers’ needs, interview users to gather specifications, conduct market searches, and coordinate the procurement process from negotiation to onboarding.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• 2–3 years professional acquisitions/serials/e-resources/reference librarian experience.
• Knowledge of acquiring library electronic resources (data services, e-journals, e-books).
• Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analytical skills to interpret licenses and terms.
• Attention to detail in documenting acquisitions processes.

Responsibilities

• Support a portfolio of data and subscription contracts.
• Interview researchers to gather specifications for licenses.
• Conduct market research to identify sources matching specifications.
• Coordinate the acquisition process through negotiation, procurement, and onboarding.
• Answer questions from data managers and researchers about licenses.
• Advise stakeholders on copyright and license terms.
• Provide budget updates and usage metrics to library leadership.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to resolve data or content issues.
• Contribute to data governance, information management, and emerging technologies within the Library.
• Participate in library-wide projects to enhance processes and outreach.
