Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking engineers to help build the Amazon MSK service, a fully managed Kafka-based data streaming platform. You will design, implement, and operate scalable systems that process millions of events per second, and contribute back to open source Kafka components.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior technologists to shape the service roadmap, code reviews, performance optimization, and building tools that make Kafka easier to operate at AWS scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features for the MSK service and Kafka platform.
• Collaborate with engineers to build a large-scale AWS service.
• Define roadmap with senior leaders and identify design/code changes needed in underlying open source platforms.
• Own performance improvements, testing and review processes.
