About the opportunity

The Principal Data Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing the data strategy for the Dayforce Marketing and other customer-facing departments. This includes identifying business opportunities that can be unlocked through data analytics and data science. Will develop and implement data governance best practices ensuring that data is used in a way that is ethical, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of data-driven business models, experience in managing large data initiatives, and a track record of delivering measurable results in a fast-paced environment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our data landscape, driving the effective utilization of data for Decision Intelligence, AI/ML initiatives.

What you’ll get to do

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify, catalog, and consolidate critical reporting needs within the organization.
  • Discover opportunities to leverage data analytics and data science to support business decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Define and align reporting and analysis requirements.
  • Set clear objectives and ensure alignment between business and data analysts on goals and success metrics.
  • Lead the creation of analytics solutions, including dashboards and data models, to meet business requirements.
  • Monitor progress of large data projects and communicate updates to business units and stakeholders.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Define data ownership, stewardship, and access protocols, and ensure adherence to governance rules.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including executives and external partners.
  • Communicate data insights and findings effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in data strategy and analytics.

Skills and experience we value

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data strategy, data architecture, BI, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data solutions for BI, and/or AI/ML projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Power BI, including data modeling, report development, and visualization.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and passion for data and its potential to drive business value.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms specifically Azure.
  • Familiarity with data governance and regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA.
