JOB SUMMARY:

TheData Strategy Manageris the strategic backbone of the Data Science & Strategy (DSS) team, responsible for translating business challenges into data-informed solutions. This role is focused on defining, guiding, and communicating the strategy behind analytics engagements that drive value across marketing, media, and client ecosystems. You’ll partner closely with the Data Science Manager to shape project scopes, communicate insights, and elevate the impact of our analytics work. While operational know-how is valuableas you will be managing timelines and deliverables, this role is primarily about data strategy—bridging analytical capabilities with strategic objectives.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are deeply fluent inconsumer data and marketinguse cases, comfortable owning high-level client conversations,have marketing agency or brand side marketing execution experience,and skilled at crafting compelling data stories that influence decisions.Exercises like customer segmentation, profiling prospects, trade area analysis, leveraging first and third party data (like Experian and Acxiom) and lookalike modeling should be comfortable phrases. While you wont be executing the data science work behind these analyses, you will help turn the data science work into clear client facing deliverables, and you will strategize when these and other analyses are appropriate (and not) to best apply data science and analytics to meet client goals.

Location:

Candidates must be located in Illinois, Texas, Colorado, or Michigan. For individuals based in our Michigan and Illinois locations, this will be a hybrid role, requiring both in-office and remote work. For candidates in Texas and Colorado, this position will be fully remote.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Scoping & Solution Design

  • Collaborate with Client Services and Marketing Services teams to identify business challenges and opportunities that can be solved through data.
  • Make recommendations on what data sources (i.e. Experian ConsumerView, intent data sources, etc.,) could be leveraged, and what data analyses are applicable (i.e. list filters vs custom lookalike model, customer segmentation vs Mosaic profiling, etc,.).
  • Define the strategic intent of analytics initiatives and ensure alignment across stakeholders before work begins.
  • Partner with the Data Science Manager to co-create delivery plans, balancing impact with feasibility.
  • Participate in pre-sale and post-sale planning to scope projects, shape deliverables, and communicate value to clients.

Insight Development & Communication

  • Lead the storytelling of analytics projects—synthesizing complex data into clear narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Help develop and deliver presentations that bring insight and strategic recommendations to life, ensuring data science outputs drive meaningful business outcomes.
  • Refine client decks and reports for strategic clarity and polish, aligning with client brand tone and expectations.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead for data strategy across key accounts, proactively managing expectations and identifying new opportunities for impact.
  • Build strong relationships with client stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and data thought partner.
  • Partner with internal leaders to ensure alignment across DSS, CS, and MS teams on analytics strategy and execution.

Team Coordination & Delivery Oversight

  • Support the Data Science Manager by keeping deliverables on track and ensuring strategy is upheld across the lifecycle of a project.
  • Monitor collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Asana) to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Flag blockers or misalignments that may impactdelivery timelines orscope.

Process Optimization (Secondary Focus)

  • Recommend enhancements to communication and documentation workflows across DSS.
  • Support implementation of tracking tools and cross-team playbooks to improve internal collaboration.
  • Should the team grow, help mentor or manage team members focused on project delivery.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years in a data strategy, marketing analytics, or consulting role with exposure to marketing/media use cases.
  • Experience leveraging third party consumer data sources.
  • Experience with leveraging data for online/digital applications and direct mail/offline
  • Deep understanding of how to apply data science to solve business problems—customersegmentation, modeling, customer journeys, targeting, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills—comfortable presenting to executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data science processes and terminology, even if not hands-on (bonus if comfortable reviewing outputs).
  • Experience collaborating with data science and cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Fluency in project scoping, stakeholder management, and expectation alignment.
  • Proficiency in tools like Confluence, Jira, or equivalent project management platforms.
  • Experience in a marketing, media, agency, or data consulting setting preferred.

The hiring range for this discipline within our industry is $95,000 to $110,000. Where an employee is paid within this range will depend on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, years of experience, education, internal pay structure, and other contributing factors.
