Job summary

SSA is seeking an IT Specialist at the GS-14 level to advance large-scale BI applications. The role requires leadership in design, development, and support, with emphasis on ETL, database architectures, and cloud-driven modernization.

Qualifications

• Specialized IT experience at or above GS-13 level is required.
• Experience leading design, development, testing, and support of MI/BI applications.
• Experience building ETL solutions and database architectures using SQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, Ab Initio, Linux scripting, Crontab, and JCL.
• Ability to communicate complex BI concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.

Summary

IT Specialist positions are being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority, open to all U.S. citizens. Selections made under this bulletin will be processed as new appointments to the civil service. Current civil service employees would receive new appointments. Veterans Preference and the "Rule of Many" do not apply.

Location and Work Arrangement

Many vacancies in Woodlawn, MD. Telework eligible as determined by agency policy; employee is required to be onsite 75% of duty time. Remote job not available. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Compensation

Salary : $143,913 – $187,093 per year.

Pay scale & grade : GS-14.

Promotion potential : None.

Professional Qualifications

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, candidates must demonstrate competencies in the following areas. Experience must be IT related and may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of appropriate training or certifications.

For a GS-14 position, specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑13 level or above is required. This experience must primarily consist of:

• Technical leadership in design, development, testing, and support of large‑scale Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence (BI) applications.
• Building and maintaining complex ETL solutions and database architectures using SQL, PL/pgSQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, Ab Initio, Linux shell scripting, Crontab, and mainframe JCL.
• Communicating complex BI concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Specialized Experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume or you will be disqualified.

Duties

• Coordinates integration of large‑scale technology solutions.
• Facilitates implementation of new technologies, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence, to improve automation and efficiency.
• Directs implementation and coordination activities for complex data systems and architectures.
• Provides technical leadership, direction, and guidance for multiple products and projects.
• Develops coordinated approaches to technology issues, including migration to cloud and leveraging AI‑driven tools.
• Provides high‑level analytical expertise for complex assignments, such as technical assessment of IT investments.
