Data Scientist Supervisor Position Overview

OOD seeks a Data Scientist Supervisor to advance our mission by delivering high‑quality, data‑informed services. This leadership role guides statewide reporting and analytics to support decision making, program performance, and outcomes for the people we serve.

You will lead a team developing accessible insights using tools such as Tableau, Salesforce, Power BI, and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL). Responsibilities include monitoring financial and operational priorities, ensuring compliance with federal/state reporting requirements, and upholding data governance and quality standards. You will transform complex information into clear recommendations, coordinate agency-wide reporting, identify analytic needs with internal leaders, and manage enhancements to databases like AWARE, Tableau, and Salesforce. You will support modernization initiatives involving data ingestion, transformation, and visualization platforms, direct employer-related reporting activities, create Lean Six Sigma performance summaries, lead the Comprehensive Statewide Needs Assessment, and prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications include knowledge of budgeting, planning, employee development, supervision, public relations, and human relations. Strong skills in interviewing, social sciences, and electronic data processing with advanced analytics tools are expected. Proficiency in project management, Lean Six Sigma, Microsoft Office, and data visualization platforms is required. The role requires the ability to reason through complex variables, perform statistical analysis, develop and edit technical publications, organize detailed information, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Division Overview

Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS) partners with employers to promote hiring individuals with disabilities, and assists businesses in achieving accessibility and inclusion goals. EIS supports process improvements, manages data systems, and conducts research to better meet the needs of Ohioans who can benefit from our services.

Pay Information

Starting salary is Step 1, with progression and annual increases as outlined below. The current wage progression includes hourly and annual figures by step. Location of pay ranges is subject to applicable laws and contracts.

Location Requirements

Roles are primarily in-office to encourage collaboration, with on-site requirements varying by location. Travel within Ohio is required. Candidates must have reliable transportation or a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle.

Background Check

Final candidate must undergo a criminal background check. A criminal conviction does not automatically exclude an applicant. An individual assessment will determine eligibility. A positive test may disqualify for a period of one year unless medical documentation or a recommendation for medical marijuana is provided.
