Leidos is seeking a Data Scientist SME to join the Chinook Program in a leadership role, translating mission needs into actionable data-driven solutions. You will shape data science strategy while solving complex analytics and engineering challenges for an IC customer.

The role requires deep technical expertise, hands-on development, and collaboration across software, data, and systems teams. Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required and you will engage with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geospatial Science or related field with 12–15 years of experience, or Master’s with 10–13 years.
• 12+ years of experience as Data Scientist/Senior Data Scientist or equivalent.
• Proven expertise in ML/AI models, geospatial analytics, and data science methods.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R with data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with big data tools (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Geospatial formats and tools (GeoTIFF, Shapefiles, ArcGIS, GeoPandas).
• Strong visualization skills (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Leadership and collaboration with government/technical teams.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the senior technical authority for data science, analytics, and AI/ML.
• Lead design, development, evaluation, and operationalization of models.
• Analyze heterogeneous datasets to identify patterns and insights.
• Develop and operationalize AI/ML capabilities (classification, regression, clustering, NLP).
• Establish model performance, explainability, bias, and reproducibility standards.
• Collaborate with data, software, and systems engineers on data requirements and integration approaches.
• Work with DevSecOps to productionize analytics and CI/CD pipelines.
• Translate data science initiatives into capabilities, stories, and technical enablers.
• Lead technical reviews, trade studies, and methodological standards.
• Engage with stakeholders to communicate findings and mission impact.
• Mentor data scientists and engineers; review approaches and code.
