FocusKPI is looking for a Data Scientist (SAP) to work on our company’s internal projects.

About the Role

Our internal team seeks a Data Scientist with a Data Engineering background and SAP skills. The role involves developing and optimizing data architectures that support business intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI/ML applications. Responsibilities include designing data pipelines connecting SAP, Databricks, and Microsoft CRM, focusing on trend analysis, forecasting, and AI-driven insights. Emphasis is on building a feature store rather than traditional data models.

This position requires a deep understanding of data organization for efficient reporting, trend analysis, and advanced analytics. Fluency in both English and Chinese is highly beneficial.

Work Details

• Location: Remote - anywhere in the US
• Duration: 9+ months contract
• Pay Range: $50+/hr based on experience

Responsibilities

1. Apply machine learning and AI techniques to solve complex problems and support business decisions.
2. Build data pipelines for model development, including data gathering, cleaning, assumption testing, and feedback loop design.
3. Collaborate in an agile environment with data scientists, engineers, and database administrators to bring analytical rigor.
4. Support project management for strategic initiatives with senior analysts and data scientists.
5. Implement and validate predictive models, maintaining statistical models for big data.
6. Document model development processes and create presentations to communicate insights.
7. Explain modeling approaches clearly and develop narratives linking results to business problems.
8. Address analytical challenges and communicate methodologies and results effectively.
9. Create dashboards for internal stakeholders to monitor KPIs.
10. Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline data science solutions.

Qualifications

1. PhD or Master’s in a Computer Science-related field (Data Engineer or Data Scientist).
2. At least 4-5 years of data science experience with a data engineering background.
3. Proficiency in Python and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn.
4. Strong SQL and relational database skills.
5. Experience with large datasets and NLP models.
6. Knowledge of MLOps tools like Airflow.
7. Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and evaluation.
8. Experience with SAP and CRM data; SAP experience is a plus.
9. Expertise in SAP data structures, including SAP HANA, BW, OData, BAPI, IDocs.
10. Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory).
11. Project management skills and ownership mentality.
12. Experience with data warehouses, cloud storage, and ETLs.
13. Ability to build dashboards and visualizations.
14. Bilingual in Chinese and English is highly preferred.
15. Strong problem-solving, communication, and storytelling skills.
16. Proactive attitude with a sense of urgency and a growth mindset.
