Job description

FocusKPI is looking for a Data Scientist(SAP) to work on our company’s internal projects.

About the Role

Our internal team seeks a Data Scientist with a Data Engineering background and prior SAP experience. The candidate will develop and optimize data architectures supporting business intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI/ML applications. Responsibilities include designing data pipelines connecting SAP, Databricks, and Microsoft CRM, enabling trend analysis, forecasting, and AI-driven insights. The focus is on building a feature store rather than traditional data models.

This role requires a deep understanding of data organization for efficient reporting, trend analysis, and analytics. Fluency in both English and Chinese is highly beneficial due to our global operations.

Work Details
  • Location: Remote - anywhere in the US
  • Duration: 9+ months contract
  • Pay Range: $50+/hr (depending on experience)

Responsibilities
  1. Apply machine learning and AI techniques (e.g., predictive models, NLP) to solve complex problems and support business decisions.
  2. Build data pipelines for model development, data cleaning, assumption testing, and feedback loop design.
  3. Collaborate in an agile environment with data scientists, engineers, and database administrators to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to behavioral predictions.
  4. Assist senior analysts and data scientists in strategic project management.
  5. Implement, validate, and maintain predictive and statistical models focusing on big data.
  6. Document model development processes and create presentations to communicate ideas.
  7. Explain complex models simply and develop narratives linking results to business issues.
  8. Solve analytical problems and communicate methodologies and findings effectively.
  9. Develop dashboards for internal stakeholders to monitor KPIs.
  10. Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline data science solutions.
Qualifications
  1. PhD or Master’s in Computer Science or related field (Data Engineer or Data Scientist).
  2. 4-5+ years of data science experience with a data engineering background.
  3. Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), SQL, and relational databases.
  4. Experience with large datasets and NLP models.
  5. Familiarity with MLOps tools like Airflow.
  6. Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and evaluation.
  7. Knowledge of SAP and CRM data; SAP experience is a plus.
  8. Expertise in SAP data structures (SAP HANA, BW, OData, BAPI, IDocs) is preferred.
  9. Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory).
  10. Project management skills and ownership mindset.
  11. Experience with data warehouses, cloud computing, and ETLs.
  12. Ability to build data visualization dashboards.
  13. Bilingual in Chinese and English is highly preferred.
  14. Strong problem-solving, communication, and storytelling skills.
  15. Willingness to learn and a proactive attitude.
