Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Scientist intern in Denver to design and optimize data flows within the Databricks architecture. You will contribute to ETL, model inputs/outputs, and analytics development across ISP, partnering with Resource Planning, Electric Distribution, and more.

Start date is May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance. Ideal candidates are current students pursuing Data Science or related fields, and can work full-time in summer or part-time during the school

Qualifications

• Current student, Graduate School
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Analytics / Business Analytics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (MIS/CIS), or similar
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver analytics projects with guidance from senior team members.
• Learn the business domain while building technical expertise.
• Effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
• Developing data products in Databricks.
• Working with Python, SQL, Git, and cloud-based analytics tooling.
