Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a summer student for hands-on data engineering and analytics development in a Databricks environment. You will design and optimize data flows, perform back-end data work, and contribute to ETL workflows for model pipelines.

The role includes cross-team collaboration and learning the business domain. Ideal candidates are pursuing relevant degrees, can commit to full-time summer hours and part-time during the school year, and have experience with Python, PyTorch, and PySpark.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a data-related field.
• Active enrollment in an accredited college/university.
• Able to commit to full-time on summer schedule (up to 40 hours/week).
• Able to commute to the designated work location for hybrid work.
• Preferred coursework covers ML, ML, Data Systems, Python, Data Engineering, Cloud Computing.

Job description

• Support ISP in designing and optimizing business processes and data flows within the Databricks/XDF architecture
• Perform front-end user-facing work and back-end data engineering and analytics development in Databricks
• Contribute to use cases involving model inputs and outputs, future project data management, ETL development for model workflows, application development, rate and cost analysis, and integration with enterprise data platforms outside of ISP
• Support ad hoc analytics and modeling initiatives across the company
• Partner with teams in Resource Planning, Electric Distribution, Transmission, Gas, and other business areas to deliver data-driven solutions
• Deliver analytics projects with guidance from senior team members
• Learn the business domain while building technical expertise
• Communicate findings and recommendations
• Develop data products in Databricks
• Work with Python, SQL, Git, and cloud-based analytics tooling

Requirements

• Current student, Graduate School
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Analytics / Business Analytics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (MIS/CIS), or similar
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week)
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person, per the hybrid work policy
• Preferred coursework: Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Data Structures & Algorithms, Database Systems / SQL, Python Programming, Data Engineering, Cloud Computing, Optimization, Time Series Analysis, Operations Research, Predictive Analytics
• Experience with Python, PyTorch and PySpark
