Job summary

Daikin Applied in Plymouth, MN is seeking a Data Scientist III to lead analytics in an R&D lab evaluating HVAC product performance. You will craft data systems strategy, build dashboards, and develop ML models to detect anomalies in lab test data. Collaboration across Digital, Quality, and Engineering is essential.

The role requires 5+ years of analytics experience, strong Python/SQL skills, and expertise in Power BI. Onsite work in Plymouth with a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years (or 3+ years with a masters) of professional experience in analytics, data science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, automation, and analysis.
• Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Cloud Services or equivalent BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop data automation strategy and roadmap aligned with Digital, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Develop, improve, and publish dashboards tracking KPIs for lab operation.
• Write, validate, and maintain scripts and queries to automate data collection and standardize formats.
• Create ML and statistical models to discover trends and detect anomalies in lab data.
• Adapt existing work with changing lab and digital software.
• Collaborate with Test Engineering, Quality, and Digital teams.
• Maintain and create documentation for scripts, models, and dashboards.
• Share expertise and provide training in data quality and analytics.
