Job summary

Geo cgi is seeking a Data Scientist to support the United States Department of State - Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The role will design, develop, and apply advanced data analytics, ML, and AI to meet customer requirements. This is a hybrid opportunity, primarily home-based but with weekly in-person requirements at DOS facilities in Rosslyn, Virginia, USA.

Responsibilities include ML workflows, NLP, graph analytics, and data visualization using Esri ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau. Must hold U.S.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance.
• 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree; or 2 years of experience with a PhD.
• Demonstrated professional experience with machine learning and data science techniques, including model development, evaluation, and deployment.
• Proven experience with big data processing and analytics.
• Experience with graph databases and graph analytics for relationship modeling and entity resolution.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience building and running containerized applications and APIs, including deployment to Kubernetes clusters.
• Proficiency with data science environments and tools such as Jupyter Lab, VS Code, GitLab.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical rigor, and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML and data science workflows for structured and unstructured data.
• Content extraction and enrichment from diverse sources and formats.
• Apply NLP and computer vision for entity recognition, de-duplication, classification, and similarity analysis.
• Design graph-based data models and analytics; integrate with GIS platforms.
• Leverage cloud-native AI services, esp. Azure, Azure AI, Azure Foundry.
• Big data processing: ingestion, transformation, feature engineering, model evaluation at scale.
• Create data visualizations via Esri ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
• Write clean, documented Python, R, SQL code; follow modern development practices.
• Collaborate with GIS analysts and stakeholders to integrate analytics into workflows.
• Produce documentation, reports, and briefings for varied audiences.
