Qualifications

• Experience developing and using statistical models and algorithms.

Responsibilities

Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking a limited-term Data Scientist to support the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Analytics in Research (BEAR) team. In this onsite role in Seattle, WA, you will serve as a statistical resource for biomedical research studies, contributing to study design, statistical analysis, and publication-ready research outputs.

Role Overview

This position is estimated for 12 months and focuses on statistical support for biomedical research. The Data Scientist will help develop and execute statistical analysis plans, produce tables and visualizations for manuscripts, and support statistical methods used in grant proposals.

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of senior biostatistics staff, contribute to study design, develop and execute statistical analysis plans, and perform data analyses for clinical and translational research projects.
• Prepare data summaries, publication-ready tables and visualizations, and draft statistical methods sections for peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant proposals in collaboration with senior team members and principal investigators.
• As a Data Scientist in SCEA, work in a team-driven, agile environment with developers, analysts, scientists, clinicians, and business owners to develop and scale data science results and products.
• Work alongside clinicians to develop algorithms and models addressing critical health care needs.
• Provide analytics input to support business and clinical operations and quality improvement.
• Explore large repositories containing structured, unstructured, and streaming data to identify modeling inputs.
• Create tools and libraries to support efficient product use across the enterprise and beyond.
• Support integrated data science products and solutions for a range of customer groups.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM or relevant analytical field demonstrating analytical and technical competency, plus 2+ years as a Data Analyst using data science tools and methods; or a Master's degree in a STEM or relevant analytical field demonstrating analytical and technical competency with evidence of work or applied research experience using data science tools and methods.
• Experience with statistics as well as machine learning and data mining.
• Experience developing and using statistical models and algorithms.
• Intermediate or higher experience in at least one major data science language (e.g., R or Python).
• Experience with data visualization tools and methods.
• Experience working with source control tools and version management.
• Experience in data extraction using at least one data manipulation language or package (e.g., SQL, R-dplyr, SAS DATA step, Python-pandas).
• Experience as a member of a delivery team supporting integrated data science products and solutions for a wide range of customer groups.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is USD 107,431 - 161,147 per year. This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Compensation range is specific to Seattle. Positions located outside of Seattle may be compensated differently depending on various factors.
