Seattle Children’s is seeking a Data Scientist LTE to join the BEAR team supporting Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Analytics in Research. You will work under senior biostatistics staff to design studies, develop analyses, and run data analyses for clinical and translational projects.

You will prepare data summaries, publication-ready tables and visualizations, and draft statistical methods for manuscripts and grant proposals, collaborating with investigators, clinicians, and software engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM with 2+ years as a Data Analyst or a Master’s with applied data science experience.
• Experience with statistics, machine learning/data mining, and developing statistical models and algorithms.
• Intermediate or higher experience in at least one data science language (R or Python).

Responsibilities

This position will be a limited term employment (LTE) Data Scientist role supporting the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Analytics in Research (BEAR) team as a statistical resource for biomedical research studies. Working under the guidance of senior biostatistics staff, the ideal candidate will contribute to study design, develop, and execute statistical analysis plans, and carry out data analyses for clinical and translational research projects. The role includes preparing clear data summaries, publication‑ready tables and visualizations, and drafting statistical methods sections for peer‑reviewed manuscripts and grant proposals, in collaboration with senior team members and principal investigators.

As a Data Scientist in SCEA, work with developers, analysts, scientists, clinicians, and business owners in a team‑driven, agile environment to develop and scale data science results and products. Work alongside clinicians to develop algorithms and models to solve critical health care needs, and provide input into driving business and clinical operations and quality improvement with advanced analytics. Dive deep into vast repositories of structured, unstructured, and streaming data to find the input for models. Create tools and libraries that can leverage products for efficient use across the enterprise and beyond.

Required Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM or relevant analytical field that demonstrates analytical and technical competency and 2+ years as a Data Analyst using data science tools and methods OR a Master's in a STEM or relevant analytical field that demonstrates analytical and technical competency with evidence of work or applied research experience using data science tools and methods. Experience with statistics as well as machine learning/data mining/etc. Experience developing and using statistical models and algorithms. Intermediate or higher experience in least one major data science language (e.g., R, Python). Experience in use of data visualization tools and methods. Experience working with source control tools and version management. Experience in data extraction using at least one data manipulation language/package(e.g., SQL, R‑dplyr, SAS DATA step, Python‑pandas). Experience as a member of a delivery team supporting integrated data science products and solutions for a wide range of customer groups.

Compensation Range

$107,431.00 - $161,147.00 per year

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full‑time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
