Job summary

Geospatial Consulting Group International (GeoCGI) seeks a Data Scientist to support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

Design and deploy ML workflows, NLP, and graph analytics with GIS integration in a hybrid setup, mostly remote with one day in Rosslyn, VA. Ideal candidates have US citizenship and DoD Secret clearance, 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree (or 2 years with a PhD), and strong Python, R, and SQL skills.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Onsite one day a week in Rosslyn, Virginia.
• 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, CS, Engineering, or related field; or 3 years with a Master’s; or 2 years with a PhD.
• Demonstrated professional experience with machine learning and data science techniques, including model development, evaluation, and deployment.
• Proven experience with big data processing and analytics.
• Experience with graph databases and graph analytics for relationship modeling and entity resolution.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience building and running containerized applications and APIs, including deployment to Kubernetes clusters.
• Proficiency with data science and analytics environments and tools such as Jupyter Lab, VS Code, GitLab, and related platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical rigor, and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML and data science workflows, including supervised/unsupervised models.
• Content extraction and enrichment from diverse data sources and formats.
• Apply NLP and computer vision techniques for entity recognition and document classification.
• Design and implement graph-based data models and analytics integrated with GIS platforms.
• Leverage cloud-native AI services, with emphasis on Microsoft Azure or equivalent.
• Big data processing: ingestion, transformation, feature engineering, model evaluation at scale.
• Develop visualizations using Esri ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Write clean, well-documented code in Python, R, SQL, and related languages.
• Collaborate with GIS analysts to integrate analytics into workflows.
• Produce technical docs, analytical reports, and stakeholder briefings.
