Job summary

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a qualified Emergency Data Scientist Supervisor to lead complex data projects addressing homelessness and related issues. You will supervise data scientists and analysts, guide data engineering and analytics, and collaborate with IT and program managers to deliver actionable insights across the organization.

During the emergency period, appointments may be up to 90 days with a path to permanency based on performance.

Qualifications

• Two years leading development and application of data methods for decision support.
• Bachelor’s degree in data-related field with 12/18 units in data science or predictive analytics plus experience.
• Master’s/Doctoral degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and evaluate data science projects from inception to implementation.
• Coordinate with IT and program managers to address strategic needs with data solutions.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and data briefs to inform decision making.
• Mentor staff and promote ongoing training in data science methods.
• Lead the design of data analytics vision and governance for the organization.
