Job summary

UST is seeking a Data Science Lead to own end-to-end delivery of models and data science deliverables, provide technical guidance to a team of data scientists and analysts, and act as the primary data science point of contact for client stakeholders.

You will lead problem-framing, design and deployment of ML models, and drive experimentation across large multi-source datasets while ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6-9 years of experience in data science, machine learning or advanced analytics, including team/workstream leadership.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python (and/or R) and SQL for model development and data manipulation.
• Proven experience with ML libraries and frameworks (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and end-to-end model deployment.
• Solid understanding of statistical modelling, supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation and data modelling concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex models to senior client stakeholders directly.
• Must be authorized to work in the USA and available to work from the client location.
• Preferred / Value-Add Experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP Vertex AI) and modern data stacks (Snowflake, Databricks).
• Exposure to MLOps practices - model deployment via Flask/REST API, CI/CD, model monitoring.
• Exposure to US healthcare / payer domain data and analytics.
• Relevant certification in data science, machine learning or cloud AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of data science models and deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance to a team of data scientists and analysts.
• Act as main data science point of contact for client stakeholders.
• Lead problem-framing and translate needs into data science solutions.
• Own design, development, validation and deployment of ML models with minimal supervision.
• Drive feature engineering, statistical analysis and experimentation across large datasets.
• Guide and review junior data scientists; ensure coding and documentation standards.
• Define model evaluation metrics, monitoring frameworks and retraining strategies.
• Present outcomes and insights to senior client stakeholders; drive data-informed decisions.
• Manage delivery timelines and status reporting for the data science workstream.
• Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, model governance and regulatory standards (HIPAA/PHI handling).
