Job summary

HDR invites motivated data science students to join our team as Data Science Intern for Summer 2027 in Omaha. You will work on real-world projects under experienced mentors and gain hands-on experience in analytics and AI.

You'll perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development and training, and contribute to AI solutions including chatbots, geospatial tools, and search capabilities using Snowflake and Azure AI services.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Familiarity with software packages related to field.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of your Department Manager, Section Manager or other professionals
• Contribute towards a variety of data science projects performing exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development and training.
• Develop data and generative AI solutions including chatbots, geospatial, and geotechnical search facilities
• Work with a variety of open source and commercial software such as Snowflake, and Azure AI services

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Software Engineering, Software Development, Computer or Data Science, Data Analytics, or related degree
• 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry

Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
• Attention to detail a must
• Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
