Job summary

HDR is seeking a Software Development Intern in Round Rock, TX. You will gain real-world experience contributing to software development, automation, and computational design projects while collaborating with engineers, designers, and developers to improve project delivery and efficiency.

You will assist in design, development, testing, and documentation of software applications, scripts, and automation tools, and support data analysis, visualization, and integration across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in CS/SE/Computational Design.
  • Completed at least two years toward a degree in related field.
  • Familiar with Git and software development concepts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

In the role of Software Development Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Gain real-world experience contributing to software development, automation, and computational design projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and developers to create tools, workflows, and solutions that improve project delivery and efficiency.
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and documentation of software applications, scripts, and automation tools.
  • Support data analysis, visualization, and integration efforts across multiple platforms and systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and agile project activities while learning industry best practices.
  • Connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and professional development programs.
  • Perform assignments under the guidance of experienced professionals and project managers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed at least two years toward a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Design, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with software development concepts, version control (Git), and problem-solving techniques.
  • Exposure to APIs, databases, cloud technologies, data analytics, or computational design tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
