Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites you to join our Building Engineering Services Group as a Software Development Intern in Round Rock, Texas.

You’ll gain real-world experience contributing to software development, automation, and computational design projects while collaborating with engineers, designers, and developers to improve project delivery. Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate Engineering degree with a minimum GPA and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Gain real-world experience contributing to software development, automation, and computational design projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and developers to create tools, workflows, and solutions that improve project delivery and efficiency.
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and documentation of software applications, scripts, and automation tools.
  • Support data analysis, visualization, and integration efforts across multiple platforms and systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and agile project activities while learning industry best practices.
  • Connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and professional development programs.
  • Perform assignments under the guidance of experienced professionals and project managers.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Software Development Intern, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed at least two years toward a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Design, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
  • Familiarity with software development concepts, version control (Git), and problem-solving techniques.
  • Exposure to APIs, databases, cloud technologies, data analytics, or computational design tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
