Job summary

Battelle’s Mission Focused Tools Division seeks a Data Science Intern for Summer 2027. This onsite role in Columbus, OH offers hands-on work with multidisciplinary teams handling data from microelectronics to networks and simulations.

A learning‑oriented environment values curiosity about cybersecurity and risk‑driven problem solving. You will apply machine learning, statistics and data analytics to real-world data while collaborating with experts across physics, CS, EE and math to deliver

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field demonstrating analytical skills (stats, physics, CS, math, ee, etc).
• Experience developing in Python through coursework or work.
• Curiosity about cybersecurity and willingness to learn new areas.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data processing and analysis solutions using AI/ML/NLP to support assessments and reporting.
• Aid design/implementation of ML and data engineering techniques for cyber security problems and IoT.
• Assist in iterative design and counter design of tactical simulations.
• Improve existing techniques and devise new methods for security data problems.
• Use Generative AI agents to solve data problems such as planning and coordination.
