Job summary

River Partners is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Chico, CA team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, apply ML models, and develop dashboards to support restoration projects.

The role offers up to 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling to fit class commitments. Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and ArcGIS is preferred, along with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in the Data Science and Analytics (MSDSA) Master’s program at Chico State.
• Strong analytical skills with a passion for solving real-world problems through data.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Coursework or experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, or data visualization is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret complex data.
• Apply statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques to generate actionable insights.
• Contribute to various projects and assist in designing and optimizing data pipelines, including remote sensing techniques.
• Develop scripts and dashboards to analyze monitoring data and provide insights into wildlife activity and vegetation patterns.
• Gain experience with industry-standard tools and software, including Python, R, SQL, ArcGIS, etc.
• Assist in integrating data pipelines with field data collection data and project sites.
• Support the development of data analytics and dashboard systems for staff use and reporting.
