Job summary

Liberty Mutual's Solaria Labs is offering a Data Science Co-op from January to June 2027 in Boston. You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to prototype AI/ML solutions for insurance challenges, balancing hands-on coding with ideation and product design.

You will learn by exploring emerging AI technologies, developing prototypes in Python, and sharing insights with stakeholders in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in a technical field with strong academic performance (3.0 GPA preferred).
• Internship or industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions.
• Strong technical, analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Curious and proactive in exploring new trends and tools in AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within an innovative lab environment balancing coding sessions with ideation and product design.
• Explore and prototype with AI technologies (LLMs, NLP, RAG, agentic AI, IR, CV) for insurance challenges.
• Develop and iterate on prototypes using Python in a fast-paced R&D setting.
• Build custom algorithms, derive data-driven insights, and share findings with the team and stakeholders.
• Continually sharpen skills through hackathons, meetups, and learning opportunities.
