Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Data Science Co-op to join Solaria Labs and contribute to innovation-driven projects tackling diverse insurance challenges. You will collaborate with data scientists and engineering teams to prototype concepts using cutting-edge AI/ML techniques.

You’ll work on Python-based prototypes in a fast-paced R&D environment, explore emerging AI technologies, and gain hands-on experience shaping future insurance products through iterative experimentation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Data Science, AI, Engineering, CS, Mathematics or Statistics with a 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Relevant internship or industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Fully authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions.
• Strong technical, analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Curious and proactive in exploring new trends and tools in AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within an innovative lab environment—balancing focused coding sessions with active participation in ideation and product design.
• Explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies such as LLMs, NLP, RAG, agentic AI, information retrieval and computer vision to prototype insurance solutions.
• Develop prototypes using Python in a fast-paced R&D setting with a startup mentality.
• Build custom algorithms, uncover data-driven insights, and share findings with the team and stakeholders.
• Embrace new technologies and participate in hackathons, meetups, and other learning opportunities.
