Information Technology Department Job Description: Data & Reporting Specialist
The Data & Reporting Specialist provides support for the University in the areas of reporting, analytics, and data processing. Additionally, this person supports administrative databases, works with vendors and internal technical support to resolve data-related issues, and fulfills university data and reporting needs.
Experience: Three years' experience with database systems, query languages, and report writing for enterprise administrative software, preferably in an academic environment. Experience supporting ERP software and an understanding of business processes.
Education: Bachelor's degree or comparable experience.
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Must work collaboratively in a team setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Other Skills: Must have a strong understanding of SQL and experience working with report writing software and Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases. Experience with Jenzabar One, SQL Server Management Studio, Appeon InfoMaker, Power BI, and Cognos Analytics is desirable. Strong understanding of higher-education business practices is a plus. Must have strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Customer service and organizational skills are imperative. Exhibits initiative and a willingness to learn; able to quickly grasp and master new skills. Well-organized, able to manage projects, resources, and information, and able to function independently within established job responsibilities and parameters. High regard for and adherence to security policy and procedures. Must embody Christian character and be able to build relationships across the university.
