Job summary

Cogenthub is seeking a Data Reporting Engineer to enhance SQL performance, optimize SSRS reports, and migrate the report library to Power BI Tabular reports in Azure. The role requires untangling complex SQL logic, tuning for performance, and ensuring maintainable, accurate outputs.

You will deconstruct and rewrite data queries, optimize execution plans, and document changes while partnering with analytics and development teams to deliver scalable reporting solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Expert level T-SQL skills, including syntax, functions, joins, subqueries, window functions.
• Ability to read and understand highly complex SQL code and reverse engineer data lineage.
• Advanced query optimization and performance tuning, including SQL Server Execution Plans and indexing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy after adjustments.
• Excellent communication to explain changes clearly.

Responsibilities

• Deconstruct and analyze SQL logic to remove unnecessary complexity in stored procedures and views.
• Map data flow across database objects to rewrite code efficiently and maintainably.
• Tune queries and stored procedures to improve report execution times and reduce server load.
• Refactor complex SQL code into simpler, readable structures without changing outputs.
• Document code logic and proposed changes for future reference.
• Implement SQL development best practices for performance and readability.
• Migrate SSRS reports to Azure Fabric Power BI Tabular reports.
• Build Power BI dashboards reflecting tabular SSRS formats.
