Job summary

The University of Cincinnati is seeking a Data Reporting Analyst to transform complex student and financial aid data into meaningful insights used for strategic decisions, compliance, and operations.

You will build dashboards and automated processes with PeopleSoft/Catalyst and advanced reporting tools, partnering with Financial Aid, IT, and Institutional Research to ensure data integrity and effective reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with strong data skills.
  • At least 1 year of business/ERP related experience and basic DB knowledge.
  • Ability to translate requirements into reporting and BI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Convert requirements into reports, dashboards, KPIs, and automated workflows using PeopleSoft/Catalyst and related tools.
  • Prepare and submit required federal, state, institutional, and external reports (IPEDS, FISAP, ODHE, etc.).
  • Interpret results, validate data quality, and support audits and compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with Finance Aid, IT, Institutional Research, and other stakeholders for BI initiatives.

Enrollment Management’s Student Financial Aid is seeking a Data Reporting Analyst to transform complex student and financial aid data into meaningful insights that drive strategic decision-making, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. In this highly collaborative role, you will leverage PeopleSoft/Catalyst and advanced reporting tools to develop innovative reporting solutions, dashboards, analytics, and automated processes that support critical university functions.

As a key member of the team, you will partner with Financial Aid, Information Technology Services, Institutional Research, Enrollment Management, and other university stakeholders to ensure data integrity, enhance business processes, and deliver accurate, actionable information. You will play a vital role in financial aid reporting, compliance monitoring, system enhancements, audits, and institutional reporting initiatives while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and business intelligence solutions.

The ideal candidate is a skilled analytical problem solver with strong technical expertise, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and the ability to translate business needs into impactful reporting and data solutions. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to student success and institutional effectiveness through the power of data. This is a hybrid position combining remote work with regular on-campus collaboration to support departmental operations, testing activities, and university initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Convert business requirements into developed reports, dashboards, scorecards, key performance indicators, automated workflows, procedures, utilities, and data solutions utilizing the University’s Student Information System (PeopleSoft/Catalyst) and related reporting tools. Prepare, validate, and submit required federal, state, institutional, accreditation, and external reports, including IPEDS, ACT/IPEDS, FTV/GE, FISAP, Common Data Set, U.S. News & World Report, Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), and other required reporting.
  • Interpret results using a variety of statistical, analytical, auditing, reconciliation, and data validation techniques; research, analyze, and validate financial aid data; monitor data quality and identify discrepancies; produce ad hoc reports and complex data analyses; support audit activities; and ensure compliance with federal Title IV regulations, state financial aid programs, institutional policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Rely on established policies, procedures, regulations, and technical guidelines to perform assigned functions, including participating in Student Information System implementations, upgrades, testing, and production support; developing test scenarios; validating system functionality; identifying data integrity issues; assisting with technical specifications and business requirements documentation; interpreting regulatory changes; implementing reporting modifications; and providing technical consultation and training to departmental staff.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental needs, including collaborating with leadership to identify opportunities for process automation, operational improvements, and business intelligence initiatives. This job description may be modified at any time to meet departmental requirements.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
