Job summary

The Bernard Group is seeking a Software Engineer Intern (Data & Python) to join our Technology Enablement team in Chanhassen, MN. This paid internship emphasizes building data pipelines, scripts and dashboards that support reporting and operations using Python and AWS technologies.

You will collaborate with Data and Python Engineering teams, gain exposure to modern tools, and contribute to data lake transitions while learning in a hands-on environment with mentorship from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year undergraduate studies in computer science, MIS or data science.
• Basic understanding of programming concepts and at least one programming course.
• Passion for learning programming, software engineering and emerging technologies.
• Basic knowledge of Python programming (preferred).
• Understanding of SQL, PostgreSQL knowledge is a plus.
• Exposure to data warehousing, data lakes or data visualization tools (QuickSight/Tableau).
• Basic understanding of AWS cloud concepts, AWS Lambda is a plus.
• Familiar with Git/GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python code, data pipelines, and scripts to collect, transform and enrich data.
• Assist in building datasets, dashboards and reporting using Amazon Redshift and QuickSight.
• Contribute to transitioning from Redshift to a data lake.
• Create Python scripts and AWS Lambda functions to automate workflows.
• Write SQL queries to retrieve and validate data.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and stakeholders to address needs.
• Test and validate work; participate in peer code reviews.
• Gain hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Use Jira, Confluence and GitHub to collaborate on projects.
