Job summary

The Bernard Group, Inc. in Chanhassen, MN is offering a 2027 Summer Software Engineer Intern (Data & Python). This paid internship is onsite, 8:30 am–5:00 pm, with no relocation housing or transportation provided. You’ll contribute to data pipelines, analytics, and automation using Python and AWS.

You’ll collaborate with Data and Python Engineering teams, gain experience with Redshift, data lakes, and BI tools, and participate in code reviews and onboarding activities.

Qualifications

• Sophomore year pursuing CS, MIS, or data science.
• Basic programming concepts and at least one course.
• Passion for learning programming and software engineering.
• Basic knowledge of Python.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL; PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Exposure to data warehousing, data lakes, or data viz tools.
• Basic AWS/cloud concepts; exposure to AWS Lambda is a plus.
• Familiar with Git/GitHub.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python code, scripts, and data pipelines.
• Assist in building data sets, dashboards, and reporting using Redshift and QuickSight.
• Contribute to data lake transition projects.
• Develop Python scripts and AWS Lambda functions for workflows.
• Write SQL queries to retrieve and validate data.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and stakeholders.
• Test and review code with peers.
• Gain hands-on with AI-assisted tools like Claude Code and Kiro.
• Use Jira, Confluence and GitHub for collaboration.
• Work in AWS cloud and learn best practices.
