Job summary

State of Minnesota - MNSite - DCYF is hiring a Data Product Manager to lead modernization efforts, transforming agency data into scalable, high-value products like curated datasets, analytics platforms, and new data-lake infrastructure replacing legacy systems.

The role drives strategy, roadmap, and delivery across data engineering, analytics, and business teams, ensuring trusted, governed, reusable data assets for decision-making and better digital experiences.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in Data management, data analytics, data engineering, or related fields.
• Demonstrated product leadership skills and ability to work in ambiguity.
• Strong understanding of data systems: pipelines, warehousing, modeling, metadata, governance.
• Proficiency collaborating with data architecture, data engineering and data science teams.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience with analytics tools listed above.

Responsibilities

• Define the vision and roadmap for data products (data platforms, analytics tools, ML infrastructure).
• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of data products: requirements, design, development, testing, launch, iteration.
• Partner with data engineers and scientists to build scalable pipelines and data services with quality governance.
• Translate business needs into data transformations and metadata with domain rules.
• Serve as liaison between MNIT/DCYF and business partners, communicating value and prioritizing requests.
• Define success metrics and design dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks.
